What is shockwave Therapy?
AKA extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is a noninvasive treatment that utilizing focus sound wave produce either mechanically, electromagnetically or via piezoelectric to help break up scar tissue, adhesion, trigger points in muscle, tendon and ligaments and help promote healing process.
Patient may be asked to change into a patient gown depending on area of treatment; doctor/assistant will first feel for the area of scar tissue/adhesion and/or trigger points. Then a conduction gel will be place over the treatment site, then doctor/assistant will place the shockwave prob over the area of treatment stopping intermittently.
